The Hori-hori tool is an essential gardening and foraging tool, named after the Japanese word for ‘dig’. In Japan, it is mainly used for wild harvesting of mountain vegetables. Three different functions are available – the pointed end for digging, one serrated side for dividing bulbs/rhizomes, and the other semi-sharp side for cutting through ropes, roots, or stems. Its mirror-finish, sharp edge, and ergonomic handle make it a must-have item for camping trips. It is carefully crafted in Japan by the expert Asano Mokko, a wood carving and handle making specialist who now creates handy tools with local blacksmiths.
